Three ways to talk to us
1. Comment on the rider guide
Read Pass Wide & Slow: A UK Rider's Guide to Road Safety. At the bottom of the article, leave a comment — your story, your question, your near-miss, your prep routine.
The blog comments are now open for everyone. We don't moderate first-time comments, but we read all of them. The best ones get quoted (with your permission) in our weekly roundup.
2. Reply to our email
If you've bought from us, you got (or will get) an email with the subject "We made a campaign. It's for drivers, not for you."
Hit reply. Tell us where you ride, what your routine looks like, what you'd add to the guide. Sarah reads every reply.
We post the best replies (anonymised unless you say otherwise) on this page as a Friday roundup.
3. The Riders' Group on Facebook
We're building a small public Group on Facebook — Gold Tree Riders. Riders' questions, near-miss stories, prep tips, route swaps. Brand-owned so the conversation stays civil and on-track.
We'll email the link to all our equine customers when it's live.
What you've told us so far
This section updates weekly. The first roundup will go live after the first week of replies.
Nothing yet. Add your voice — see the three ways above.
If you drive (not a rider)
This campaign started for drivers too. The plain-English version of Highway Code Rule 215 lives at /pages/pass-wide-and-slow.
If you know one driver — a colleague, a delivery driver, a friend — send them that page. That's the whole ask.
The pre-ride routine, in your own words
We're collecting pre-road-ride prep routines from real UK riders. 5 sentences, send by reply or comment.
What we'll publish: a roundup post with the 10-15 best routines, named (with permission). What we'll skip: anything that doesn't fit a public-good tone — no "secret trick" / "they don't want you to know" framing.
The Pass Wide & Slow campaign — what it is
This page is part of a wider campaign. If you've just arrived:
- Pass Wide & Slow — A UK Driver's Guide to Horses on the Road — for non-riders. The Highway Code rules, what to do when a horse spooks, the 999 script for rider falls.
- Pass Wide & Slow — A UK Rider's Guide to Road Safety — for riders. The 7-day countdown, on-road positions, what to do when it goes wrong.
Built by Gold Tree Organics — a small UK family business making hemp pellets, reward licks and treats for horses — in support of the BHS Pass Wide & Slow campaign.
FAQ
Is this a sales page? No. We sell hemp pellets for horses but the Riders' Corner is a public-good surface — no commercial ask, no discount codes, no "buy now" buttons. The pellets, our products and the about page stay focused on what we make. This page is about the campaign and the conversation.
Will my comment be public? Yes. Comments on the blog post are public. Replies to our email are private to us unless you say we can quote you.
Can I post without buying? Yes. The blog comments work without a Shopify account. The email roundup is for existing customers. The FB Group (when it's live) is open to anyone.
What will you do with my comments / replies? Three things: - We'll read them and reply if there's something useful to say. - With your say-so, we'll quote the best ones in the Friday roundup. - We won't sell or share your name, email or story outside the campaign without permission.
